Agency Leaders Debate Digital Business

by SoDA Communications / July 16, 2010

The 2010 gathering of SoDA members at the annual Global Member Meeting in Las Vegas, NV brought together the digital marketing industry’s best and brightest thinkers for 3 days of open debate on the business of digital marketing.  Agency CEO’s gathered from across the world with a unique objective: to gain value from one another in order to better build their businesses.  The event’s agenda was a mix of small group discussions, short member presentations, all-group debates and an overview of  SoDA’s active programs, several of which will become public in Q4 of 2010.

Located in the Foundation Room, the House of Blues private club, the Global Member Meeting set up and encouraged frank and candid conversations on our business during the day, while the evenings were focused on forging professional relationships between agencies and leaders.  The hallmark of SoDA membership has been the value gained from leaders having professional relationship with and the mutual respect of their peers.  In the past, members have exchanged processes, best practices, staff, and in some casses, succesfully joint pitched on new work.  SoDA inteneds to roll our several programs in the near future to non-members (agencies and clients alike), enabling them to join SoDA best practices and gain some of the same insights as our members.

This event was sponsored by Adobe Systems, Inc. (www.adobe.com), Datapipe (www.datapipe.com), and Flashtalking (www.flashtalking.com).

Accidentally got connected to this forum. It is interesting to see how digital marketing pans out in this world where we are quickly losing time as a commodity to have. In other words, due to so many platforms of knowledge acquisition and simple social networks that have spawned over the years that we simply do not have the time to visit any particular site or interest area for more than a few minutes in a day or a week. The challenge therefore is therefore how to make a digital presence while having a sustainable business model. What ticks and what does not is difficult to ascertain, but that is truly the whole essence of digital marketing.
